At about 4 p.m. after hearing a shot the guard turned out and was led by Subadar Puran Chand into the camp. A large crowd of Chinese prisoners stoned us.

We formed a line and fixed bayonets. I was on the right. Rifleman Uttam Singh was on my left. We advanced at the High Port. The Chinese were about 2 or 3 yards from us. I was hit by a stone on the collar bone. A Chinese tried to snatch my rifle. He got hold of the sling. I snatched my rifle back causing him to turn. I gave him the point about 2 inches in the back. He had turned through being pulled round when I snatched the rifle back.
He fell down. The crowd then dispersed.

Rifleman Rattan Singh has an injury to his right shoulder and blood on his shirt in that place.

The injury is such as would have been caused by a large

On January 2nd I was a member of the guard at the Prisoners of War Camp.
After a shot was fired in the camp the guard was turned out and we went into the camp. A large crowd of Chinese had collected. They stoned us. Subadar Puran Chand ordered fixed bayonets. We advanced on the crowd at the High Port.
Rifleman Rattan Singh was on the right of the line. I was on his left.
A Chinese attempted to seize Rattan Singh's rifle and actually had his hand on it. Rattan Singh snatched his rifle away and gave him the point.
I saw all this. I was only a yard away.
